Lyon Mountain Owners

Welcome to Lyon Mountain

A subtle paradise with sprawling agriculture and wildlife. Rolling hills broken up by a network of streams and babbling brooks. Breathtaking views of the valley and relaxing sunsets Lyon Mountain Road is where your adventures begin on Lyon Mountain. It starts up the lower left of the south face of the mountain heading north and then east until it loops down the east side back down toward Roses Brook Rd. It is sort of shaped like an upside down horseshoe. The road is about 2 miles long with three left turn spurs. The first left is 3/4 miles to Coyote Dr., then a short distance to the second left Partridge Rd., once over the southern face of the mountain a hairpin left brings you to Turkey Lane, the road continues south where it ends at private property. Lyon Mountain Road Association began as an agreement between some of the longest owners on the mountain. In the 1980's Bolger, Solinga and Mazzilli realized the road was quickly deteriorating. They led the way in organizing a group of owners to get involved by donating time and money to do the necessary projects to keep the road minimally repaired. Each owner represented a quadrant of the mountain so the funds would be used to fix all sections of the road. They were tired of washouts, pot holes and downed trees. Bolger was one of the main organizers. He later built his own road directly from Roses Brook Rd. He pulled out of the agreement and the road was neglected for a number of years. Vincent Mazzilli and others formed the current association, so they could start a bank account, where they have maintained and tracked the budget for the road repairs. Over the years owners have come and gone along with participants in the association. There are many lots on the mountain that are inactive and have been for many years. We would like to see more people participate and that is why we have designed this website. The site will help owners understand more about the property they possess. We will try to update the content of the site based on feedback from the owners. Currently, maybe 25% of owners have responded with their contact information. We recommend that you provide your contact information to be maintained in a completely private database. We are contemplating having an newsletter of sorts with information and updates about the mountain. We encourage input, from the community, for topics they would like to see in the Newsletter. The road association has been the "keeper of the road". With greatly needed and appreciated help from year round residents we have always provided access to all parts of the mountain. The total length of the road requiring maintenance is almost 4 miles. Over the years the maintenance requirement has ebbed and flowed. We try to anticipate the cost annually, but can never really be accurate. Every year we spend what we collect and we never have a rainy day fund for a real emergency. With participation from the owners we can make some major improvements to the surface quality of the road and the security of the mountain. We look forward to open communication through this website, so together we can address needs and concerns of Lyon Mountain Road.
